FarmVille: New Chicken Coops With Mystery Eggs

FarmVille has been on a roll the past few weeks with a ton of new features, and finally the 22×22 expansion!

One of these fabulous new features is the latest addition to their ‘buildings with a purpose’ series – a Chicken Coop!

We suspected this building was coming but were surprised to see it giftable. It can also be purchased at the Market for 5000 coins, and can house up to 20 chickens. However, its seems that as of right now, we are allowed only 1 Chicken Coop. The reasoning behind this is not known, so don’t shoot the messenger

***NOTE*** As stated above, you are only allowed 1 coop. If you receive more than 1 chicken coop as a gift, each additional coop will automatically turn into a chicken and be placed in your Gift Box.

The new FarmVille Chicken Coops not only allows us to save space on our farms, but also bring another new feature – Mystery Eggs. FarmVille Mystery Eggs are awarded randomly from chickens inside your new coop. The more chickens you have in your coop, the more often you could be rewarded with a Premium White Mystery Egg (white, brown, black or gold).

When you are awarded one of these Mystery Eggs, you will have the option to post it to your feed and share with your friends. Up to 5 friends will be able to claim an egg to crack open.

But, it seems there are more interesting ones to come!

FarmVille Mystery Eggs Pop UP

As you can see from the above screenshot, “Different color chickens give you better eggs”. We can only assume from this, that we will be seeing a wider variety of Mystery Eggs rolling about. (one would think it was Easter time!)

Premium Mystery Eggs come in 4 colors – White, Brown, Black and Gold. Here is the list of prizes inside, according to a post on the Zynga forums:

Premium White Mystery Eggs:

* Chicken Coop (If you don’t have one already)
* White Chicken
* Brown Chicken
* Garden Gnome
* Pink Flamingo

Brown Mystery Eggs:

* Brown Chicken
* Black Chicken
* 1 Fuel refill

Black Mystery Eggs:

* Black Chicken
* Golden Chicken
* 10 Fuel Refills

Golden Mystery Eggs:

* Golden Chicken
* Tree Swing
* Hot Tub
* Fire Pit
* Golden Gnome
* 20 Fuel Refills

Until then, enjoy the new FarmVille fun!

      How do you explain the guy who has two chicken coops? I think if it is good for one it should be good for all. I know for a fact he has two because I took a picture of it and he posted his own photo of it!

        Sorry, since we are not Zynga, we can’t explain it. All we can do is report how the game is displayed. Inside the Market, it clearly says Limit 1 (locked) for both Garden Sheds and Chicken Coops.

        It most likely is one of their usual glitches. We’ve had goats standing in the middle of our feilds so nothing surprises me anymore..lol

    any idea how a farmer can get more than one mystery egg a day? I saw one person post several yesterday.

    • Joanne Dolles says:

      If a player is harvesting their chickens at different times of the day, it is possible for them to receive more than 1 mystery egg. This would be assuming that not all of their chickens are inside the Chicken Coop. They most likely are scattered throughout their farm.

        I have had my chickens in the coop for days and all I get is money from them. Am I doing something wrong?

          You’re not doing anything wrong. Premium eggs are collected randomly so it could be days before you see one.

  3. Hi,
    I would like to add that the coop must be always a bit larger than actually required. As this would allow the chickens to move freely within the coop, thus having some sort of exercise.

    My coop is broken – It never gives mystery eggs for me to post. I empty and refill multiple times every day with all my chickens that are ready but no luck. I am frustrated. Why is my coop broken???

    Reply
    • Joanne Dolles says:

      I highly doubt it’s broken. Mystery eggs are not guaranteed every day. BUT, you should not be taking all your chickens out and back in numerous times daily. Put them in there and leave them there. That’s what the coop is for. Once per day, when the coop says READY, then collect the eggs.

    I never get mystery eggs in my coop either but there are people that get 20 a day everyday. How is that possible??

    It is possible to collect more than one mystery egg per Day.
    Although it is random so there are no guarantees.

    First completely empty your coop,
    Then add one chicken which is ready to harvest, you coop is now ready to harvest.
    Add your best chickens to fill coop.
    Harvest coins and possible mystery egg.

    This can be repeated for as many times as you have spare ready-to-harvest chickens on your farm.
    Even if you do not get a mystery egg , you still received coins for harvest.

      I do agree with David, I got more than a dozen mystery eggs in a day. And in two days time I received the Egg-celent Discory White Ribbon. I just started doing your procedure the other day. Thanks David!

    can you grt ur own mystery eggs

  9. Livvy says:

    In response to Mary Hayes, you can get two chicken coops by hatching two eggs at the same time on your feed before you get your first coop. This way, as you will always get a chicken coop before a chicken (if you don’t already have a coop) when hatching an egg, you will get two coops. However, you cannot use both of them and Farmville will continually come up with the message that your game is ‘out of sync’ so will want to refresh. Eventually the coop in your gifts box will turn into a chicken, so ending your time with two chicken coops.

    I’m confused? What is the purpose of getting a gold or black chicken when YOU don’t get the prize, your friends do… Or am I doing something wrong????

    • Joanne Dolles says:

      You are correct. Your friends who are able to claim an egg get the prize. The purpose if it is to share

    If you find a mystery egg when hatching your eggs from the coop, if you don’t share it right away, does it go into your gift box or does it just go away completely and you just get the coins? Just curious.

    Well, I have a lot of luck getting a mystery egg from my chicken coop. There was a time when I get it in 3 consecutive days but the problem is, I don’t see them published in my News Feed . It is actually published in my profile but not in public. So I wonder if someone is getting them to have it hatched or not.

    • Joanne Dolles says:

      I have seen this happen too Neil, but within 5 minutes or so, it will finally appear in the news feed. I am not sure if that is some sort of glitch with the connection on Zyngas end or Facebooks…

        But what surprises me is that until now, I haven’t seen them published in my News Feed. What could be the problem? It would be useless for me having the luck of getting and sharing those mystery eggs without anyone actually hatching them, right?

    Hey, I’ve recieved both a gold egg and a white egg, where do I go to open them?
    I didn’t post that I found the eggs, so could that be a cause?

    • Joanne Dolles says:

      If you received the golden and white eggs while feeding your neighbors chickens, you need to post them to your wall and your friends can claim them. When you find an egg this way, you do not get them yourself. The only way for you to get gifts from eggs to to claim them off your news feed/wall.

      You are not guaranteed an egg each time you feed your friends chickens. It is random and considered a special reward to have one pop up for you

    and another random chance on keeping it? @.@

      If you collected the Mystery Egg from your own farm, you cannot keep it. You must either post it to your newsfeed for others to collect, or it disappears.

      The only way to get a Mystery Egg for yourself is to collect one from your newsfeed.

    I recieved a Black Cottage from a mystery egg. My daughter recieved a pink cottage. Those of you who are disapointed that you cannot hatch eggs you harvest yourself should remember that Farmville is an interactive social game. To advance (level-up) you need XP. When your friends visit your farm they fertilize your crops, thereby giving you additional XP. Without the fun of harvesting your coop, there there is little incentive to visit. If you want to increase the odds of recieving mystery eggs, make sure you are online at the same time your friends are, and monitor your news feed. As they make their rounds and post their finds, you will be there to reap the rewards. BTW, be a good neighbor and do the same. Don’t be a lazy FVer. Just a note, Make sure to leave some plowed land available to fertilize, so when your neighbors come to visit they don’t leave empty handed. Just like the real world, send them home with something.

    What’s wrong with Farmville’s Mystery Eggs? When I collected eggs in my Chicken Coop today, I clicked “Share” to share the Treasured Golden Egg with friends. But my golden egg NEVER appeared in my gift box…. just NOT there. Later I checked my Profile page & there what the “Sharing” Post so I clicked on it thinking perhaps something had changed & I need to do this to get my Treasured Golden Mystery Egg. But I NEVER received that egg! Also over the last week I have lost 3 mystery eggs that were laid when I fed neighbors’ chickens and I clicked on a Friend’s Profile page to collect a Treasured RI Red Egg which never appered in my Gift Box. What’s going on & how do I report this problem to Farmville so they can fix it???? And if reproted will they fix it? They never fixed Cafe World so my Profile picture shos instead of the little white hatted Cheif,,, does Aygna read & fix any game problems?

      There is nothing wrong with the Mystery Eggs. You cannot collect your own eggs, nor do you receive them. When you find an egg in your coop, it is for your friends. When you post to your wall, only friends can claim them. They will not appear in your gift box. This also applies when you feed your neighbors chickens. Any eggs you find are for your friends.

      The only way to collect eggs for yourself is to claim your neighbors eggs when they post them to the news feed.
