Top 10 Facebook Applications For November 23, 2009

Once again we see the usual suspects topping the Top 10 Facebook Applications leader board!

FarmVille, Causes and Cafe World hold onto first, second and third respectively. Causes did lose about 500,000 users, allowing Cafe World the opportunity to creep up a little closer to that second spot.

Continuing to gain massive ground on our Top 10 list is FishVille, with an impressive 6.7 million additional users this past week. You don’t see it on this weeks list as it falls into the 13th spot of our Top 10, but based on the past few weeks, I suspect we will see it around #7 next week!

Also closing in on our Top 10 list is ; a fabulous application for those of you wanting to take Facebook off your desktop PC.

There are a few interesting new applications gracing our Top Gainers list week as well, including some seasonal goofy fun from an app called Snowball Fight.

The “New App On The Block” goes out to , developed by CrowdStar; the makers of Happy Aquarium. Happy Pets is a game where you can take care of a variety of pets. Decorate rooms, feed and play with your pets and watch them grow and be happy. With the super success of Happy Aquarium, I don’t doubt we will see Happy Pets nearing the Top 10 soon.

Our “App Warning” goes out to Moment of Truth; one of those scary apps where we can supposedly find out what people honestly think about us. Reports are this one is full of spam, and won’t allow you to disable posting to your wall – most likely the reason it has gained so many users this past week. If this app continues to insist on publishing with out permission, I suspect Facebook will have it pulled shortly…

If you are looking for more animal fun, take a peek at Zoo World developed by RockYou!. It looks to be a fun game where you can build up your own zoo, collect and breed animals, hunt for treasure, and trade with your friends. We will be keeping our eye on this one!

Play FarmVille Off Facebook Over At FarmVille.com

Breaking news for you FarmVille fans! If you are one of the millions who have difficultly loading FarmVille within Facebook, and are tired of Bits the Cow getting lost in his travels (despite how cute he is!), you may want to considering trying Zynga’s new version of the game on its’ own webpage – FarmVille.com.

In beta, and so far being kept fairly hush-hush, FarmVille.com allows you to access your farm via Facebook Connect. Everything you normally see and have access to within Facebook is now available in a hopefully much more stable environment.

We’ve tested the web based version ourselves, and so far it seems much faster and crisper. However, it remains to be seen if this badly desired stability will be permanent once the masses converge onto the site.

Take a peak:

As you can see above, you have full access to your neighbors, gifting, invites, and of course buying $FV. The only portion of the game not yet integrated is the gifts you have received, yet not accepted, still sitting in your Facebook Requests.

One new added feature is a FarmVille Game Feed that sits beneath your farming platform. Now you can instantly see all FarmVille related posts that would normally appear in your Live Feed.

I personally have felt that the intended quality of Zynga games far surpass the norm in social media entertainment. In my humble opinion, they are using social media platforms such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo, as an almost instant launching pad for the more lucrative web based/downloadable versions. With approximately 50 million active daily users of Zynga applications, almost anything they release will be an instant success.

Will we see more of our favorite Zynga applications turn web based? Almost undoubtedly we will…The new business model is a smart move on their part, and whether we like it or not, Zynga does not spend a small fortune developing games purely for our entertainment. They are a business first and in order to grow as such, this shift can only bring more value to us all.

Mafia Wars Toolbar Earns You A Limited Edition Utility Belt

Are you tired of having to log into Facebook each time you want to check your Mafia Wars Health Energy, Stamina and time remaining until you can use another Energy Pack?

Despite how much most of us enjoy a variety of Facebook applications, we do have lives outside of Facebook, and as such, get busy surfing the web, chatting with others, or heavens forbid – actually working! Remembering to log into Mafia Wars to your check status most likely slips your mind often.

Now it doesn’t have to! Zynga just introduced their new toolbar for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox that lets you check your Mafia Wars Health Energy, Stamina and the time remaining until you can use an Energy Pack – right from your browser menu.

Those of you willing to try out the beta version will be rewarded with an in-game benefit. Simply install the toolbar and instantly receive a Limited Edition Utility Belt armed with 30 Attack and 30 Defense.

Since Zynga has chosen to develop the toolbar using Conduit.com, the ability to customize your bar from over 200000 other sites is available. Instant linking to other Zynga games such as Cafe World, FishVille and Roller Coaster Kingdom have also been added.

We would love to read some feedback from anyone using the bar. Feel free to tell us what you think below!

Cafe World: Super Sliders On Tap For 2 Days!

Super SlidersAs promised for reaching 1 million fans, Cafe World’s Super Sliders Event begins today at noon Pacific time. For those of you unsure of what that converts to in your time zone, here is a fabulous conversion table provided by World Time Clock http://bit.ly/wV5jA.

So what the heck are Cafe World Super Sliders?

Super Sliders are basically mini Bacon Cheeseburgers. They offer double the servings, for the same price and cooking time as regular burgers, 1 extra XP per ingredient and 1 extra XP when serving. This makes this a great way to pump some coins and points into your cafe coffers quickly!

Here is a side by side comparison of the two:

The Super Sliders Event only lasts for 2 days, so take advantage of these goodies while they are here!

**TIP** While serving up Super Sliders is a great way to increase your Cafe World cashflow, make sure you continue to offer other menu selections to your patrons. A varied menu helps keep your Buzz Rating high!

Automation Manager For Your FarmVille Farm

Do you love FarmVille, but go crazy over how long it takes to harvest, plow and then re-plant your fields each day? You are not alone!

The average FarmVille farm contains 300-400 squares of land. This means you could be potentially clicking upwards of 1200 times each time you harvest your fields. This does not include how many times you harvest a tree, collect from your animals, or visit your neighbors to fertilize and clean fields.

I don’t know about you, but that’s a LOT of clicking time taken out of my extremely busy day!

So, how can you reduce your number of daily clicks?

How can you go away on vacation, and ensure your fields are attended?

Need to unexpectedly run out for a few hours but are worried your crops will spoil while you are gone?

You may want to consider using a cheat such as Farming Extreme Manager, developed by AutomationLabs.org. Here are the details:

“Farming Extreme Manager was made to attend these issues, allowing you to harvest, plow and plant all your farm terrain, collect from your animals and harvest your trees with just one click. In fact, since this application actually knows how much time a certain seed takes to get ready, it can start the process again as soon as the seeds are ready, with no human intervention at all.”

AutomationLabs.org provides full details on how to use the application, including video demonstrations on how helpful it can be. Take a look at what the application has to offer, weigh how useful it could be to you, and then make your decision. It’s a steal of a price I have to admit….

NOTE:
While we do not condone cheats that earn you tools and resources ahead of your actual attained level, a little automation is desirable for many. However, there is a risk in using tools such as this, and it could result in your FarmVille account being terminated. We do not use Farming Extreme Manager ourselves, but have had requests for information about such tools available – hence this post.

Top 10 Facebook Applications For November 16, 2009

Once again it’s time for our Top 10 Facebook Applications, and a new addition to our weekly updates – the Top 10 Facebook App Gainers of The Week.

This week, we see the regular rif-raf holding onto the top 10 with a little juggling for position. Mafia Wars drops once again, down to the 5th spot, whereas FarmVille continues to hold onto a commanding lead in top spot.

Cafe World, maintaining a strong #3 spot, may actually overtake Causes in the coming weeks. If you have not yet played Cafe World, now is the time to jump in and test out your culinary skills. Tomorrow, Tuesday November 17th, is Cafe World’s Super Sliders day, with special culinary delights provided by developer Zynga in thanks for the application reaching 1 million fans.

The big news this past week is the rise, fall, and then rise again of Zynga’s new FishVille. After being taken offline by Facebook for some questionable advertising connections earlier last week, FishVille opened back up and the players flooded right in.

Happy Aquarium gained approximately 16 million users over the past month, but FishVille looks like it will easily surpass that, with an astounding 9+ million new user’s filling up their new fish tanks with goodies this week alone.

The “New App On The Block” goes out to Addict – an application that supposedly reveals your Facebook addiction level. However, before you rush out to try this one, read the reviews. Almost every single reviewer is reporting major spam issues after installing the application.

FarmVille: New Chicken Coops With Mystery Eggs

FarmVille has been on a roll the past few weeks with a ton of new features, and finally the 22×22 expansion!

One of these fabulous new features is the latest addition to their ‘buildings with a purpose’ series – a Chicken Coop!

We suspected this building was coming but were surprised to see it giftable. It can also be purchased at the Market for 5000 coins, and can house up to 20 chickens. However, its seems that as of right now, we are allowed only 1 Chicken Coop. The reasoning behind this is not known, so don’t shoot the messenger

***NOTE*** As stated above, you are only allowed 1 coop. If you receive more than 1 chicken coop as a gift, each additional coop will automatically turn into a chicken and be placed in your Gift Box.

The new FarmVille Chicken Coops not only allows us to save space on our farms, but also bring another new feature – Mystery Eggs. FarmVille Mystery Eggs are awarded randomly from chickens inside your new coop. The more chickens you have in your coop, the more often you could be rewarded with a Premium White Mystery Egg (white, brown, black or gold).

When you are awarded one of these Mystery Eggs, you will have the option to post it to your feed and share with your friends. Up to 5 friends will be able to claim an egg to crack open.

But, it seems there are more interesting ones to come!

As you can see from the above screenshot, “Different color chickens give you better eggs”. We can only assume from this, that we will be seeing a wider variety of Mystery Eggs rolling about. (one would think it was Easter time!)

Premium Mystery Eggs come in 4 colors – White, Brown, Black and Gold. Here is the list of prizes inside, according to a post on the Zynga forums:

Premium White Mystery Eggs:

* Chicken Coop (If you don’t have one already)
* White Chicken
* Brown Chicken
* Garden Gnome
* Pink Flamingo

Brown Mystery Eggs:

* Brown Chicken
* Black Chicken
* 1 Fuel refill

Black Mystery Eggs:

* Black Chicken
* Golden Chicken
* 10 Fuel Refills

Golden Mystery Eggs:

* Golden Chicken
* Tree Swing
* Hot Tub
* Fire Pit
* Golden Gnome
* 20 Fuel Refills

Until then, enjoy the new FarmVille fun!

Top 10 Facebook Applications For November 11, 2009

Our Top 10 Facebook Applications list is a little late this week, but here none the less!

The Top 10 this week has not changed at all in ranking, with FarmVille, Causes, and Cafe World remaining in the top 3. I doubt we will see anyone de-throne FarmVille for quite some time. Zynga continues to release new seasonal items, including Maple Trees, Turkeys, and giftable American flags as recently as this morning.

The big user gainers this past week were Happy Aquarium, and surprisingly Mafia Wars. Mafia Wars, with its new expansion locations, continues to pull the players in on a consistent basis!

Happy Aquarium continues to increase it’s player base, despite the new release of Zynga’s FishVille. With FishVille being taken offline for a few days by Facebook for advertising violations, Happy Aquarium most likely will be able to hold onto a solid lead for the weeks to come.

Here is our list for this week:

Farmville: Giftable Flowers and Garden Sheds

Did you just grow the perfect bunch of flowers? If so, you can now decide to either use it on your farm as decoration, or send it to your friends!

**NOTE: This feature is only available to a randomly selected group of FarmVille players as of right now.

For the lucky FarmVille farmers out there who have been randomly chosen to beta test these features or, for you farmers who are trying to pre-plan for this new feature, here is the news:

Cost of Garden Sheds:

The new Garden Sheds will be able to be purchased for 30,000 Coins and 10 Neighbors, or 30 Farm Cash from the market.

Purpose of Garden Sheds:

Your Garden Shed can hold up to 30 Perfect Bunches. To share the Perfect Bunches that you have stored in your Garden Shed with your Neighbors, simply click the Garden Shed to open it.

Perfect Bunches:

While harvesting your flowers, there is a chance that you will receive a “Perfect Bunch”. These new perfect bunches can be used as a decoration on the farm.

If you do not own a Garden Shed, you will receive a pop-up asking you if you would like to post to your feed (just like the lonely animals on your farm). If you post this to your feed, one lucky friend will be able to claim the bouquet as a farm decoration.

If you are lucky enough to own a Garden Shed you will be able to store up to 30 perfect bunches. You can then open your garden shed by simply clicking on it. This will allow you to remove the bunches that are stored inside. You may either place them on your own farm or send to your feed for your friends to collect. The number of bunches that you decide to post to your feed will determine how many friends are able to claim them.

For example, if you post 5 Perfect Bunches to your feed, 5 friends can claim 1 each.

**NOTE: This feature is only available to a randomly selected group of FarmVille players as of right now.

FishVille: Zynga’s New FishVille Is Now In Beta

Being domain name and blog developers, we are always on the lookout for good domain names and blogging ideas for our clietns, so when last month while searching, we were not surprised to read that Zynga had just trademarked the name “FishVille”.

With the phenomenal success of FarmVille, Cafe World and Mafia Wars, it seemed only a matter of time before Zynga moved into more niches. And, now they have, with today’s beta release of FishVille.

Much like it’s predecessors, Happy Aquarium and Fish World to name a few, FishVille has been fashioned using the same model as both FarmVille and Cafe World – buy fish, feed fish, sell fish, buy a bigger tank. Then, rinse and repeat; literally!

FishVille Tank

Additional tanks can be purchased using either coins or real money. You will be able to pretty up your tanks buy purchasing plants and decorations with the coins you earn selling your fish. A fairly decent variety of fish are available to purchase as you level up through the game. The time to maturity ranges from 5 minutes to 24 hours that we can see so far at our modest Level 3, but if FishVille follows its’ past model to a “T”, there most likely will be 48 hour and 72 hour fish as well as we get higher.

There is a fabulous selection of gifts to send to neighbours (Yes, you need neighbors again!), that will ensure your tanks look great. We also see that the option to purchase different tank backgrounds will be released as well.

With Zynga on target for an estimated $200 million in revenue this year, we are sure FishVille’s almost certain success will pad that figure nicely.

The application is not yet showing in Facebook’s search results, so here is the link you will need to get your tanks started:
